    The largest trade union in Turkey (KESK) has announced a one-day strike in protest at the country's worst ever mine disaster which has claimed at least 274 lives.

    All 240,000 members of the KESK union representing civil servants are called to go on strike today.

    There were protests against the government in Ankara and Istanbul already on Wednesday.

    Please be prepared for disruptions in public life and possible delays in mail processing and delivery.

    Canada

    The Canadian International Mail Centre in Vancouver has moved to a new location.

    This move has affected the processing and delivery of inbound mail in the area since Monday 12th May 2014.

    The United States

    Several bush fires have broken out in Southern California on Wednesday.

    In the San Diego area operational teams could prevent the spreading of flames to houses.

    According to authorities 15,000 inhabitants of the region around the city of Carlsbad were forced to leave their homes as a precaution. CNN reported that at least 20 houses burned down.
