  The Texan metropolis of Dallas was hit by a severe thunderstorm.

  Torrential rain triggered floodings. Gusts of wind have taken down trees, several houses werde damaged.

  Thousands of customers in Dallas and Fort Worth were affected by power outages.

  Columbia

  At least five people died due to heavy floods in Colombia. According to the government further 1,700 people wer affected by severe weather in the South.

  In the Southwest there were landslides, the river Hacha y la Quebrada La Paz burst its banks.

  The government declared a state of emergency.

  Brazil

  A strike of bus drivers in Rio de Janeiro caused traffic chaos on Thursday. Thousands of people had to accept delays of several hours and switched to other means of transportation.

  The bus drivers wanted to put through higher wages by the strike.

  In other cities demonstrators blocked important roads. In São Paulo there were protests for better working conditions and against serious housing shortage.

  Ireland

  Cabin crew members of the Irish airline carrier Aer Lingus announced their strike action for May 30, starting at midnight.

  The stoppage will last 24 hours.

  Cabin crew members will place pickets at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports for the duration of the strike.

  France

  As reported there is a call for strike of French civil servants. Air traffic controllers are civil servants so air traffic will be affected by the strike.

  The strike starts on May 14th at 18:00 UTC. It will end on May 16th at 05:00 UTC.

  In France it is against the law to ask if an individual will support strike action, so the extent of impact is uncertain.

  Please be prepared for possible flight delays and flight cancellations.

  Austria

  Weather warnings have been issued for wide regions of Austria.。

  Austria was hit by storms and torrential rain which partly caused floodings.

  Particularly affected are Carinthia, Styria and parts of Lower Austria and Burgenland.

  Italy

  Poste Italiane informs that on Friday, May 16th 2014 and for all day long a strike of SEA operators (the ground handling society) is planned at both Airports of Milan, Malpensa and Linate.

  Consequently, some flights from and to Milan will be delayed and/or cancelled.

  An impact on the processing and delivery of parcels, EPG, EMS items and Letter mail products in inbound and outbound is expected.
